Uncontrolled microbial growth can cause very severe problems throughout the oilfield. Many different bacteria can be present in any given fluid stream and high performance broad spectrum biocides are essential for the continued safe operation of oil and gas wells.

Product Information

OS SAFE-GUARD is an effective biocide for the control of aerobic and anaerobic bacteria, including sulphate reducing bacteria (SRB), in oil-field water based drilling fluids. OS SAFE-GUARD is a THPS based compound incorporating Benzalkonium Chloride which together ensures broad based protection in both test and field condition.

Advantages

This combination of effective biocides ensures protection against a broad spectrum of bacteria and has outstanding chemical stability.

Application

For drilling fluids slug doses of 2 – 10 litres of OS SAFE-GUARD per cubic meter of drilling fluid should be used, and injected neat. Injection into a flowing system is by means of a continuous feeding arrangement using a positive displacement pump or drip feed. For static systems OS SAFE-GUARD should be added as a slug dose and well mixed with water in the system.
