Hydrogen sulphide is a colourless gas, with an offensive odour and a sweetish taste. It is soluble in water, alcohol, oils and many other solvents. It is considered to be a weak acid and is toxic to humans and animal life to the extent that it can be life threatening. In addition, it is extremely corrosive to most metals and with the presence of 50 ppm H2S, high strength steel can fail in a matter of minutes. H2S scavenging or “gas sweetening” is both safety critical and of economic concern for ensuring trouble free upstream and downstream operations.

OS TRI-SCAV is a specially formulated Triazine based Hydrogen Sulphide Scavenger.
Whilst the primary function of OS TRI-SCAV is that of H2S Scavenging, it also acts an effective biocide, preventing bacterial growth and thus minimising corrosion in water based drilling fluids and low salinity brines.
OS TRI-SCAV is an acceptable environmentally friendly alternative to Zinc in oilfield operations. It is also active against both Aerobic and Anaerobic bacteria.

Advantages
OS TRI-SCAV is an environmentally friendly alternative to Zinc. It does not form a precipitate. It also acts as a biocide.
Application
OS TRI-SCAV is used in water based muds and clear brines to scavenge Hydrogen Sulphide and prevent bacterial growth. OS TRI-SCAV will also prevent any polymer degradation associated with bacteria.
The more typical applications include packer fluids, sea water drilling fluids and low salinity brines.
Dependent upon the system to be treated typical dosages of OS TRI-SCAV are 5 to 50ppm per ppm H2S for Hydrogen Sulphide Scavenging and 1.0 to 7.5 US Gallons per Barrel for Bacterial Growth Inhibition.
Packaging
OS TRI-SCAV is packaged in 200 kg drums and 1,000 kg IBC’s.
